Manchester United are reportedly keen to recruit a second, more experienced, striker in the January transfer window to aid Rasmus Hojlund’s development.

Despite signing for the Red Devils from Atalanta for £72 million (Sky Sports) in the summer, Hojlund, 20, has struggled to get himself among the goals.

The young forward, although playing well in the 12 appearances he has made, has managed to find the back of the net on just three occasions so far.

Consequently, eager to share the striker’s workload, United’s recruitment team, according to the Daily Mail, are set to bring in a new forward once the January window opens.

There are thought to be three players on the Red Devils’ shortlist. Brentford’s Ivan Toney, although currently serving a betting-related ban, is expected to leave the Bees in the coming windows. Multiple clubs are linked with United the latest to join the race.

Porto’s Mehdi Taremi is another option with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen the Red Devils’ third and final mid-season target.

It appears that Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal, following an agreement reached between the two clubs.

The accidental announcement of the signing came from Timber’s brother, who posted a picture on Instagram showing a farewell party held for the player.

The image featured Timber’s photo on a board wearing an Arsenal shirt, along with a caption: “Jurrien’s Goodbye party! See you in the streets of London.”

The post was eventually deleted perhaps after they realised they are not supposed to announce until it is officially announced by the clubs.

The Gunners, who came close to winning the league last season but were ultimately defeated by Manchester City, seem determined to challenge again in the upcoming campaign.

Manager Mikel Arteta has already bolstered the squad with the signings of Kai Havertz from Chelsea. The club has also agreed a deal for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

Tottenham have Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on their list of summer transfer window targets.

Hugo Lloris has struggled at times for Tottenham this season and it could be time for them to search out potential replacements. The French international has been a great servant to the club, but if they want to go to the next level then maybe it’s time to let go.

A report from Football.London has provided a huge shortlist that Tottenham have reportedly drawn up ahead of the summer transfer window.

What next for Man Utd goalkeeper Dean Henderson?

The report claims that Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson is one of those on the shortlist, and there’s a good chance he could be available in the summer.

Henderson is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest meaning he will return to Manchester United at the end of the season. The Forest loanee is yet to be given a fair crack of the whip at United despite being at the club for many years now, so it’s probably time he found himself a permanent home.

Forest may be keen to make the deal permanent, but the attraction of playing for a club the size of Tottenham could sway his decision.

Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana after being priced out of moves for other targets.

Onana signed for Everton during the summer transfer window at the beginning of the season. With Everton struggling financially, selling some of their prized assets could be necessary to help them bring in reinforcements.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed to CaughtOffside via his Substack column that there is interest in Anthony Gordon.

There’s also been reported interest for Everton’s midfielder Onana, and The Times are now reporting that Chelsea are planning to step up their interest in the Belgian international as an alternative to Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

The report claims that Chelsea don’t want to pay the asking price for Caicedo and Fernandez so are hoping to take advantage of Everton’s need for cash.

Selling Onana during the middle of the season would be catastrophic for Everton especially considering they’re already struggling in the Premier League this season.

The money received would be useful to help reinvest, but there’s not long left in the transfer window for Everton to bring in reinforcements.

  • Manchester United have already identified two priority transfer targets for next year

Manchester United have reportedly identified two priority transfer targets for next year, although they expect to have a quiet January transfer window.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils plan to strengthen with the signing of a goal-scorer and a new right-back, though no specific names are given in the report.

Man Utd fans will hope to see more concrete plans emerging soon, but it’s certainly a good start that the club are aware of the positions in the squad where they could do with improving.

While Marcus Rashford has made a welcome return to form, there are still legitimate question marks over whether he can score consistently enough to be the 25-30-goal-a-season front-man United need.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford is surely up after falling out of favour under Erik ten Hag, and players like Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial haven’t contributed much recently.

A new right-back could also be a good option for MUFC, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggling in his time in Manchester and with no other solid alternative to Diogo Dalot, who is yet to sign a new contract.
