    Two more doubles teams have qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals. Santiago Gonzalez/Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Rinky Hijikata/Jason Kubler are the sixth and seventh teams to guarantee their place at the season finale, which will be held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin from 12-19 November.

    Gonzalez and Roger-Vasselin have enjoyed a standout year in their first season as a team. The Mexican-French duo has claimed four titles, including an ATP Masters 1000 trophy in Miami.

    The veteran pair — Gonzalez is 40 and Roger-Vasselin turns 40 later this month — also emerged victorious in Marseille, Los Cabos and Basel.

    Gonzalez will make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals, while Roger-Vasselin will compete for the third time with a third partner. In 2014, he played with Julien Benneteau and in 2020 he qualified with Jurgen Melzer and reached the championship match.

    Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler

    Hijikata and Kubler will both make their season finale debut in Turin. The Australians earned their spot at the year-end championships by winning the Australian Open and being the only Grand Slam champions to finish the regular season between eighth and 20th in the Pepperstone ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings.

    Once they reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne, Hijikata and Kubler did not lose a set the rest of the tournament. The home favourites defeated two teams that have also qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals: Wesley Koolhof/Neal Skupski and Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos.

    Only one place remains in the doubles field at the Pala Alpitour. Argentines Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni are currently in the best position to qualify.

    Musetti & Rune Qualify For Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals

    Lorenzo Musetti and Holger Rune have qualified for the Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals, to be held in Milan from 8-12 November. They both will compete at the 21-and-under season finale for the second consecutive year.

    Twenty-year-old Musetti and 19-year-old Rune guaranteed their spots Friday by advancing to the semi-finals of the Sofia Open. They will become the fourth and fifth players to play in the Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals in consecutive years, joining Andrey Rublev, Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe.

    Musetti claimed his first ATP Tour title this July at the ATP 500 event in Hamburg. The Italian saved two match points against Dusan Lajovic in the first round before stunning then-World No. 6 Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling three-set final.

    Musetti also defeated then-World No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime in Monte Carlo and 2021 Nitto ATP Finals qualifier Hubert Hurkacz in Rotterdam. The 6’1” righty reached a career-high No. 30 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings on 1 July.

    “It was my goal this year to play in front of a home crowd again and to be a better player compared to last year and to try and lift the trophy,” Musetti said. “I am happy I qualified for this really important event and I am happy to be there. It is always special to play in your country, so I hope the crowd will give me extra for my winning chances.”

    Rune began his season outside the Top 100, but has climbed as high as World No. 26, making him the highest-ranked Danish player in Pepperstone ATP Rankings history (since 1973). Rune lifted his first ATP Tour trophy in Munich, where he ousted then-World No. 3 Alexander Zverev in the second round.

    The teen also made the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, where he upset then-World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round to become the first Danish man to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final in the Open Era (since 1968).

    “I feel good. It is a great step,” Rune said. “Every time you achieve this it shows that you have had a great year. I am super happy for that and really excited to go there again. It is such a great event. It is probably one of the most fun ones of the year, so I am super excited.”

    The past two Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals champions, Carlos Alcaraz (2021) and Jannik Sinner (2019) — who are in first and second place in the Pepperstone ATP Live Race To Milan — will not be competing in this year’s event. Alcaraz has already qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals and Sinner continues his quest to compete in Turin for the second consecutive year after playing two matches as an alternate last year.

    Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals for the fourth consecutive year on Friday after they lifted the trophy at the US Open. They are the second team to qualify for the season finale, joining Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski, whom they defeated in the final at Flushing Meadows.

    Ram and Salisbury first qualified for the season finale in 2019 (round robin), advanced to the semi-finals at the year-end championships in 2020 and made the final in 2021 in Turin. Ram also partnered Raven Klaasen to the 2016 title match at The O2 in London.

    Ram, 38, and Salisbury, 30, began the season with one ATP Masters 1000 title as a team. This year, they have added two Masters 1000 trophies to their collection with victories at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

    The American-British duo carried their momentum from Cincinnati into New York, where they successfully defended their US Open crown. The triumph marked their third Grand Slam trophy together, having also won the 2020 Australian Open. Ram and Salisbury also reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open, the BNP Paribas Open and Wimbledon.

    The Nitto ATP Finals will be played at the Pala Alpitour in Turin from 13-20 November. On the singles side, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have also qualified.

    Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski became the first team to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals on Wednesday when they reached the second round of the US Open. The Dutch-British tandem will compete in Turin at the season finale, which will be held from 13-20 November.

    Koolhof will compete in the Nitto ATP Finals for the second time after lifting the trophy alongside Nikola Mektic in 2020. This is the first time Skupski has qualified for the year-end championships.

    The first-placed team in the Pepperstone ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings has won six doubles titles together this season, highlighted by ATP Masters 1000 victories in Madrid and Montreal. They have also triumphed at ATP 250 events in Melbourne, Adelaide, Doha and ’s-Hertogenbosch. This is the first year Koolhof and Skupski have competed as a pair.

    “It will be my first experience of playing it and it’s been a goal of mine for many years,” Skupski said. “It’s a nice goal to tick off and hopefully we can do well. Hopefully Wes can show me the way to winning the title.”

    “It’s a great showcase for doubles with only the best eight teams in the world and I’m really looking forward to it,” Koolhof said.
