Six petits matchs.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is reportedly set to be offered a new contract after a release clause that had been in his deal was removed due to it being tied to Pep Guardiola’s future.

The Norway international previously had a release clause that would have become active in 2024, but now the Athletic report that that clause is no longer there with the recent extension of Guardiola’s contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland has been sensational since moving to City from Borussia Dortmund last summer, scoring 47 goals in 40 games in all competitions to have the team dreaming of a potential treble victory.

It seems inevitable that other top clubs around Europe will be keeping an eye on Haaland with stats like that, but it now looks like City are in a stronger position to secure his future.

The Athletic now claim MCFC will offer the 22-year-old a new contract, so it will be interesting to see if that also ends up including any clauses.

It was a major statement signing by City to bring an elite performer like Haaland to the club, but now keeping him for the long term will be the test.

  • Arsenal prepare an offensive for Rabiot

Arsenal prepare an offensive for Rabiot

Arsenal would be ready to make a proposal to secure the services of Adrien Rabiot during the winter transfer window. The Gunners would be willing to line up 15 million euros to convince Juventus of Turin to let go of their player during the season.

    Adrien RabiotJuventus

According to the information relayed by Todo Files, Arsenal plans to make an offer to Juventus of Turin, in January, to obtain the reinforcement of Adrien Rabiot. The London formation would be ready to put 15 million euros on the table to recruit the Frenchman. An amount that the Italians could accept, while the player has only six months left on his contract.

The people of Turin are facing a serious crisis linked to the Prisma affair. Andrea Agnelli and his former collaborators are suspected of having falsified the accounts to make them more in line with the wishes of the supervisory authorities. A preliminary hearing should also take place in 2023 and the trial should give rise to heavy penalties. This Tuesday, the club approved a budget with a deficit of… 240 million euros.

    Will Rabiot agree to leave?

The new management would thus have already made it known that it was looking for a replacement for the Frenchman. Fede Cherubini, the new sports director, should be forced to accept many proposals in the coming months to try to rebalance the accounts of his club. However, it remains to be seen whether the former PSG player is in favor of the idea of changing teams in January. His mother had made important demands that blocked his move to Manchester United last summer. A departure at the end of his contract (June 2023) could allow him to negotiate an XXL signing bonus.

Recruited free in 2019, Adrien Rabiot took part in 11 Serie A games this season, scoring 3 goals and delivering 2 assists. After a lackluster year, the Blues player managed to silence the critics. He also achieved a very beautiful World Cup.

  • Paratici could seal an “unreal” signing as Spurs prepare offer for £26m “monster”

Paratici could seal an “unreal” signing as Spurs prepare offer for £26m “monster”

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Milan Skriniar to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

    What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Italian media outlet CalcioMercatoWeb, who claim that, having been heavily linked with a move for the Inter Milan centre-back ever since Antonio Conte’s appointment in north London back in November 2021, Fabio Paratici is now preparing to make a €30m (£26m) offer for the 27-year-old this winter.

However, the report goes on to suggest that, despite the Slovakia international heading into the final six months of his contract at the San Siro in January, Inter are likely to reject this bid – with the Serie A side believed to be hopeful of tying the defender down to a new long-term deal in Milan.

    “Unreal”

Considering just how much success Conte has enjoyed when working with Skriniar in the past, coupled with the centre-back potentially being available on a cut-price deal due to his current contract situation, the argument that the 27-year-old would be an unreal signing for Paratici to pull off in January is an extremely easy one to make.

Indeed, over his 32 Serie A appearances during Inter’s title-winning campaign back in 2020/21, the £52.5m-rated talent was a rock in Conte’s backline, helping the Nerazzurri keep 12 clean sheets, in addition to making an average of 1.5 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 2.7 clearances and winning 3.5 duels – at a success rate of 52% – per game.

The £92k-per-week defender also caught the eye in an attacking capacity, hitting the back of the net three times, as well as playing an average of 2.6 long balls, making 0.3 key passes and completing 62.2 total passes – at a success rate of 92% – per match.

These returns saw the 54-cap international Siavoush Fallahi labelled a “monster” and Andy Castell dubbed “unreal” average an extremely impressive Sofascore match rating of 7.07, ranking him as the seventh-best performer in Conte’s side that season.

As such, with Skriniar being a defender who is incredibly solid at the back, a threat in the final third and capable of bringing and playing the ball out from the back – not to mention being a proven winner – it would indeed appear as if landing the 27-year-old for a fee of just £26m would be an unreal deal for Paratici to get over the line this winter.
