    Rogic starts, Corberan bins “fantastic player” in 3 changes: Predicted West Brom XI

    West Bromwich Albion return to Championship action today as they host Rotherham United in a 3pm kick-off.

    The Baggies are currently enjoying their best vein of form in some time, having won four games on the bounce already. A win today could propel them to within five points of the play-off positions, which is astounding considering where they were when Steve Bruce was sacked in October.

    Their most recent win over Sunderland was particularly important for ensuring that they maintained their run despite the World Cup break, and they now face a Rotherham side who sit below them in the table.

    The Millers have only won once in their last eight, but that did come while on their travels against high-flying Sheffield United.

    Carlos Corberan will look to exercise caution amongst his squad as he deals with injuries and sickness.

    With that in mind, here’s the West Brom XI that we’re predicting for today’s clash. Corberan is expected to make three changes from the side which won on Monday.

    Alex Palmer will surely continue in goal, with the shot-stopper having conceded only once in the Baggies’ last four games.

    He will sit behind an unchanged back four, with Kyle Bartley’s only just back in training and Semi Ajayi ruled out. The former has enjoyed a similarly rich vein of form but was struck down in their mid-season friendly with Elche.

    Erik Pieters deputised brilliantly at the Stadium of Light, though, making five clearances, and he will continue alongside Dara O’Shea. They will be flanked by Conor Townsend and Darnell Furlong.

    The substitute heroics of Tom Rogic will surely have earned him a start for today, as it was his goal which sparked their second-half turnaround last Monday. He will partner Okay Yokuslu, who will screen the defence to allow John Swift the freedom to get forward.

    Jed Wallace provided a peach of a cross for their late winner at Sunderland, and he will continue on one wing. However, having missed out five days ago due to illness, Grady Diangana should return ahead of Matt Phillips if he is deemed fit enough, having also trained this week.

    Despite being described as a “fantastic player” by Charlie Austin in the past, Phillips’ performances have not caught the eye this season, ranking a lowly 17th among West Brom’s squad via WhoScored.

    These wide attackers will supplement the return of Monday night’s match-winning hero, with Daryl Dike seeking to make his first senior start since last January.

    His goal and assist won them the match earlier in the week, and if he is deemed fit he will surely be trusted to lead the line today.

    Lampard lets “diamond” loose & drops Gueye in 2 changes: Predicted Everton XI

    Everton make the trip to west London this evening to take on Fulham in their Premier League clash at Craven Cottage, and Frank Lampard will be hoping that the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend will give his team a confidence boost ahead of this clash.

    The Toffees are currently 12th in the league table after returning to winning ways last Saturday. They could even break into the top half of the table if they can secure victory over the Cottagers, which would surely delight the manager, team and supporters as they set out for a much more positive campaign than their relegation-threatened 2021/22.

    In terms of injuries, Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina and Andros Townsend remain unavailable for selection today, but Lampard has revealed a huge injury boost which could make a positive difference in his team.

    Nathan Patterson is now available for selection, with the Everton boss taking to his pre-match press conference to confirm the return of the talented right-back ahead of the clash today.

    Lampard told the media: “Patterson is back in the squad for this weekend. It’s a really good [selection] headache. It’s exactly what I wanted.”

    With that being said, this is how Football Fancast expects Everton to line up against Fulham this evening…

    We expect to see just two changes to the side which beat Crystal Palace last weekend, with Lampard sticking to the successful 4-2-3-1 formation deployed against the Eagles.

    The first change we predict is Patterson’s instant return to the Toffees’ back four alongside an otherwise unchanged defence which includes Conor Coady, James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko.

    Patterson is currently the fourth highest-rated player in the Everton squad according to SofaScore, despite missing out on the last five games through an ankle injury he sustained during international duty last month.

    The 21-year-old sensation, who was hailed as a “diamond” by Danny Murphy, will replace club captain Seamus Coleman, as Lampard will surely want to get the Scottish full-back – who has been a standout performer – back into the side as soon as possible.

    The second change we expect to see is in midfield, with James Garner being given the opportunity to make his presence known in the middle of the park alongside Amadou Onana in the deep-lying role, as we discussed in a recent piece on Football FanCast.

    The former Manchester United midfielder will replace Idrissa Gueye, as it could be advantageous for Lampard to give the 33-year-old a rest after performing in a number of closely-scheduled matches ahead of the World Cup next month.

    As a result, the Everton boss will be hoping that the slight tweaks of refreshment in key roles whilst maintaining the formation which inspired a three-goal victory a week ago can be the winning formula that the Toffees need in order to pick up another three points on the road today.

    Lampard drops Gordon, £20m “real talent” starts in 3 changes: Predicted Everton XI

    Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park this afternoon and Frank Lampard will be hoping that his team can perform in front of their home crowd after suffering three consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

    The Toffees are now just one point off the relegation zone, and should they lose they could even fall into the bottom three by the end of play tomorrow night, although a win could push the Merseysiders as high as 12th in the table.

    In terms of injuries, there were no new problems reported by the Everton boss, with Yerry Mina, Nathan Patterson, Andros Townsend and Ben Godfrey all remaining unavailable for the clash against the Eagles.

    However, there has been some good news in terms of recovery progress. Patterson could be back as early as next week following an ankle injury, with Lampard saying of the Scottish defender in his press conference on Friday afternoon: “He’s progressing, he’s training with us and will be fit hopefully for next week.”

    The 44-year-old also gave a timeframe on Ben Godfrey’s potential return date, stating: “I think it might be tough for Ben to be back before the World Cup, because of the injury and because of how quickly that time is coming – November 12 we break up. We’ll look at the best plan around that.”

    We predict that there will be three changes to the team which lost to Newcastle United earlier this week, with Lampard sticking to his 4-3-3 formation.

    The first change we expect is for the Everton manager to make a slight tweak to his back four as he includes Ruben Vinagre in a Premier League starting line-up for the first time since coming to the club and drops Vitaliy Mykolenko to the bench in an otherwise unchanged defensive line, with James Tarkowski, Conor Coady and Seamus Coleman keeping their places in the team.

    The second change we expect to see is James Garner coming into midfield to replace Idrissa Gueye alongside Amadou Onana and Alex Iwobi, freshening up the central roles slightly to offer a deeper attacking threat and possibly injecting more creativity from the former Manchester United midfielder.

    The third and final change we expect to see is Anthony Gordon losing his place in the team following a number of reckless performances which have seen the winger become more of a hindrance than a help, picking up the most yellow cards in the Premier League with six bookings in just 780 minutes of action.

    We predict that Dwight McNeil will reprise his role on the right flank in place of Gordon, lining up alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray to complete the front three.

    The £20m winger – who was dubbed a “real talent” by his former Burnley boss Sean Dyche – found the net against Southampton and has been a reliable performer in the wide forward role. He has created two big chances this season, making two tackles and completing 1.2 dribbles per game, along with winning 53% of his duels across 11 appearances.

    There is a great opportunity to freshen up the starting team with the depth that Lampard has, so he should utilise the fullness of the squad that he has at his disposal to give Everton the boost they need to take all three points against Palace today.

    Liverpool will travel to north London this afternoon in a Premier League clash against Arsenal, and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his team’s midweek victory in the Champions League can inspire a positive result at the Emirates too.

    The Reds are currently 10th in the league table and 11 points adrift of the Gunners at the top, so it’s incredibly important that Klopp’s side do all that they can to close the gap by taking all three points from their visit to the capital.

    Despite the struggle for convincing performances in the Premier League, Liverpool have a fantastic recent record against Arsenal as they are unbeaten in their last five meetings in all competitions.

    In terms of injuries, Liverpool will be without Arthur Melo, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Andy Robertson and Curtis Jones this afternoon.

    With that being said, this is how Football FanCast expects Liverpool to line up against Arsenal…

    We predict there will be three changes to the team that beat Rangers on Tuesday, with the same 4-3-2-1/4-4-2 formation that was successful at Anfield.

    The first change we expect to see is Ibrahima Konate reprising his role in the centre-back partnership with Virgil van Dijk in an otherwise unchanged backline of Kostas Tsimikas and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

    The 23-year-old hasn’t started a competitive match since May but could replace Joel Matip at the heart of the defence. This would give the player not only an opportunity to shine at the Emirates Stadium after recently returning from injury, but would also ensure rest for Matip who will no doubt feature again in the Champions League clash on Wednesday as Liverpool aim for a comfortable finish in the group stages.

    The second change we predict is Fabinho returning to the centre of the pitch alongside Thiago Alcantara. That would mean club captain Jordan Henderson would lose his spot in the starting line-up despite being “outstanding” – in the words of Curtis Woodhouse – during the win over Rangers.

    The £180k-per-week Brazilian midfielder missed out during that victory but replaced Henderson in the 70th minute, but it would be no surprise if he gets the nod in the starting line up this afternoon.

    The third and final change we expect to see is Roberto Firmino coming in as the fourth attacker alongside Diogo Jota, Mohammed Salah and Luis Diaz, replacing Darwin Nunez in the team.

    The number nine is in incredible form with five goals in ten appearances, making him the joint top goal-scorer for the club this season so far. He has an impeccable record against Arsenal, scoring nine goals and delivering three assists in his 16 meetings with the Gunners.

    With that being said, it would be no surprise if Klopp makes some little tweaks to combine experience with high quality across the pitch whilst maintaining that fresh formation that worked a treat in the Champions League.

    During an interview with ATPTour.com in Cincinnati in August 2021, the former World No. 1 was asked which current player he would pick to reach No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings.
