With just five goals so far in the 2023/24 Premier League season, Fulham remain one of the lowest scorers in the division.

It’s fair to speculate that had they still had Aleksandar Mitrovic in the side, their output in terms of goals might’ve been significantly higher at this stage.

Despite their poor showing in front of goal, the Cottagers are in a reasonable enough 10th position and with seven points, just five behind Brighton and Hove Albion in fifth.

Whilst they clearly miss their former centre-forward, they were never a one-man team and are going about proving exactly that.

It’s been revealed too that they were willing to pay €15m for a player that is currently European football’s hottest striking property.

Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy was the subject of an enquiry from the west Londoners as they sought to replace Mitrovic, but as Sky Sports Germany note, the player himself decided against the move.

His 10 goals in 2023/24 per WhoScored, make him statistically better than Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe at the time of writing.

No doubt that Marco Silva will be rueing the fact that the player couldn’t be persuaded to move to Craven Cottage given how well he has begun the current campaign.

Depending how well they’re doing by the opening of the January transfer window, there’s nothing stopping Fulham making another approach though.

Once a player knows they’re really wanted that can often change their minds, and you never say never in football.

Liverpool are still in the market for a defensive midfielder following the signing of Wataru Endo and the Reds have been quoted a fee of £70m by a Premier League club to bring one of their stars to Anfield.

The Merseyside club have been linked to many midfielders over the summer and one name often mentioned is Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure. The Mali International only signed for the Eagles last summer and made a big impact in his first season in English football, winning Palace’s Player of the Season award for the 2022-23 campaign.

This caught the attention of Liverpool and according to Football Insider, Crystal Palace are set to ask for £70m in order to part ways with the 23-year-old.

Cheick Doucoure is being linked with Liverpool

Doucoure would certainly be a starter for the Reds should they bring him to Anfield meaning Endo would likely act as a backup to the Mali star.

However, it remains to be seen if Liverpool are willing to spend £70m on the player as they have other options that they can fall back on, such as Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.

  • Real Madrid know the price to pay for a Spanish international

Real Madrid know the price to pay for a Spanish international

Real Madrid are interested in a Spanish attacking midfielder for the transfer market this summer. The club, 2nd in La Liga, knows the amount of the sum to be paid to secure the services of the player in question.

    Dani Olmo Gavi Spain

Currently, the press is mainly talking about the contract extensions of some major elements of the club, such as Toni Kroos or Marco Asensio, even Luka Modric and Karim Benzema, as well as the future of Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has notably made the decision to continue with Real Madrid until the expiry of his contract, in 2024, while Brazil is making eyes at him.

At the same time, the Spanish club is interested, for next season, in a potential attacking recruit, namely Dani Olmo.

    Competition for Olmo

A long-time target of Real Madrid, but also of FC Barcelona, the Spanish international with 30 selections is currently evolving, and since January 2020, at RB Leipzig. In Germany, Dani Olmo is flourishing, having a good season (24 games, 4 goals, 6 assists). But under contract until 2024, the 24-year-old Spaniard could leave this summer, one year from the end of his lease.

According to the revelations of Picture, two teams are interested in his case: Real Madrid, therefore, but also Manchester United. That said, the German media reveals, the clauses of Dani Olmo’s contract push the Spaniard towards his native country. Indeed, the central attacking midfielder, who can play on both wings, can leave for La Liga via a release clause of 60 million euros, which rises to 75 million in the case of a club outside Spain, like Man Utd.

    Mutual interest?

Recently, the media Report indicated that Dani Olmo, trained at FC Barcelona between 2007 and 2014, was interested in a transfer to Real Madrid. It remains to be seen, finally, if the Spanish club will agree to pay such a sum for Dani Olmo, who does not seem to have to settle as an indisputable holder within the workforce of Carlo Ancelotti, who counts in his ranks Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo or Federico Valverde on the attacking positions.

Chelsea have strengthened their squad significantly since the arrival of the new owners but they are still lacking a reliable goal scorer in the side.

A report from Football Insider claims that Graham Potter wants to sign a quality striker at the end of the season and Chelsea are prepared to spend £100 million on the Napoli star Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old Nigerian striker is a top priority target for Chelsea and it will be interesting to see if they can convince the Italian club to part with him.

The 24-year-old has been in exceptional form this season scoring 25 goals across all competitions.

Osimhen is undoubtedly one of the best young strikers in Europe and he could prove to be a quality acquisition. He could transform Chelsea in the final third and turn them into genuine contenders next season.

Osimhen has helped Napoli climb to the top of the Italian league table this season and he has helped them reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League as well.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are unlikely to secure Champions League qualification next season and they are currently 10th in the league table. It remains to be seen whether a player like Osimhen is prepared to join a club without Champions League football next season.

The player has been linked with clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal as well. The two clubs are likely to be able to offer him Champions League football next season.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been told to pay a whopping £62m to sign Palmeiras youngster Endrick.

Endrick is a talented youngster coming through the ranks at Brazilian side Palmeiras. At just 16 years old, Endrick is unable to join a club in Europe as it stands as EU rules state that he is only allowed to move to the continent when he turns 18 years old.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Palmeiras will allow Endrick to leave the club when he is able to as long as they meet their asking price, which currently stands at £62m.

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola recently claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham were interested in the youngster, with BBC Sport also reporting that Liverpool and Manchester City were among the clubs keeping tabs on his progress.

Clubs will have to act fast with some of the elite teams around Europe sniffing around him, but they could be put off by the price tag.

£62m for a player who is still only 16 years old and unproven in a top league is a massive risk, and one some clubs won’t be willing to take.

All eyes are on Serena Williams as she begins her final US Open on Monday night against Danka Kovinic. In the leadup to the season’s final Grand Slam, several stars have paid tribute to the legendary WTA star, including Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, Andy Murray and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Nadal has spoken about Williams several times in recent weeks and has been clear how important she has been within and beyond the tennis world.

“[She is a] huge ambassador that [broke] records. I think as an athlete… [she] has been one of the most important athletes in the history of the sport,” Nadal said. “So from the tennis perspective, it’s a big loss that she is leaving. But on the other hand, she deserved all the things that she achieved because she worked enough to make that happen for such a long time, with a lot of determination, dedication, discipline. If not, all of this is impossible.”

Nadal added that he has one wish for when Williams’ career is over.

“I just believe and hope that if she is able to stay around the sport in some way, going to be great for our sport because I always believe that the sports are bigger when the legends of our sport are around the sport,” Nadal said. “And she’s a legend. In some way I hope she will continue being involved in the world of tennis.”

    [ATP APP]

Medvedev recalls picking up a racquet aged six. When he started watching the sport on TV months later, Williams was competing. He was already aware she was “the strong woman in the world in tennis right now”.

“Twenty years later I’m here, already managed have some success in my career, and Serena is still playing, playing her last US Open. It’s just legendary,” Medvedev said. “Every time I saw her in person, she just has this legendary energy around her, which I guess is not easy to live with, because that’s why everybody is a fan of her. Maybe aparazzi. You come around here, and you’re like, ‘I’m a fan’, something special. She for sure has and will have an amazing legacy in tennis.

“I’m sure in hundred years we’re still going to talk about Serena Williams.”

    [NEWSLETTER FORM]

Former World No. 1 Murray played mixed doubles with Williams at Wimbledon in 2019. “I was nervous playing with her,” Murray recalled, adding that she made “a few funny comments” that made it a “really nice” experience for him.

“Her achievements in the sport, obviously incredible. She will go down as one of the best tennis players to have ever played, if not ‘the’ best on the women’s side,” Murray said. “I think also what her and Venus have done is, when you combine the two, is even more remarkable, really, and probably unlikely we will see something like that again from two sisters.”

Williams has also received a wild card into the women’s doubles draw alongside sister Venus Williams.

“I think it’s really cool that they are playing doubles together. I think that will be really nice,” Murray said. “She’s obviously had a massive impact on the sport.”

Tsitsipas, like Medvedev, was a kid when Williams was already dominating the sport. The Greek explained that he has been inspired by her.

“What she has been able to do on the tennis court and outside the tennis court has brought the game of tennis so high and has made it so important as a sport,” Tsitsipas said. “So I give a lot of credit to her because she deserves a lot of credit for what she has done in this sport. She’s a phenomenon.”

Strong Revenues Allow Sun International to Pay Dividend

Sun International, a South African gaming company, will be able to pay its dividend for the first time in six years. This is thanks to the operator’s revenue rising by 30% in the first half of 2022.

    Sun International Paid Dividend

Sun International’s business was badly hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus outbreak forced the company to temporarily shut down, which led to some heavy financial losses. However, now that the pandemic has subsided, the company experienced a steady recovery.

Sun International operates casinos, slots and hospitality services. While its hotel business experienced a steady recovery in the first half of the current year, it is the company’s gambling business that helped it recover from the damages caused by COVID-19. Now that tourism has resumed, more visitors frequent the company’s hotels and gambling halls, helping business pick up once again.

Now Sun International has strengthened its business, it decided to pay its dividend for the first time in six years. The company announced that it will pay an interim dividend of $0.05 per share. As a result, Sun International will pay back $29 million of its debt and reduced it to $390 million.

The operator’s share price, meanwhile, continues to fluctuate. Despite the ups and downs, the overall statistics show that Sun International’s shares are also recovering. However, it will likely be a while before they return to their pre-pandemic prices.

Sun Relies on Its Gaming Operations

Gambling operations contribute 82% of Sun International’s income. Because of this, it is critical for GGR to return to its pre-pandemic levels so that Sun can pay its dividends. Right now, the company’s slots operations are its strongest segment as Sun Slots’ revenues have surpassed the pre-pandemic levels.

Speaking about the company’s recovery, a spokesperson said that the casino income is currently excellent and demonstrates a strong recovery.

Casino income has proven resilient and is swiftly recovering from the effects of the pandemic.

    Sun International statement

South Africa shows a lot of promise as one of the emerging gaming markets. Africa, as a whole, is seen as a huge market that has barely been tapped. Because of that, numerous companies have been working to expand their presence in the continent and rank among the visionaries that will shape African gaming.

Two months ago, global bookmaker Betfred expanded its presence in South Africa thanks to a deal with LottoStar.  Meanwhile, at the beginning of July, Gaming Laboratories International announced that it has hit 100 South Africa-based employees.
