Harry Redknapp names the club he thinks will win the Premier League next season

Harry Redknapp, the former Tottenham manager, has made a bold prediction, tipping Manchester United to win the Premier League title in the upcoming season. Despite Manchester City’s historic treble-winning campaign last season and their strong summer signings, Redknapp believes it will be United who will come out on top.

Redknapp praised United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, for his excellent work in his first season with the club and highlighted the team’s good summer transfer activity. He particularly praised the addition of Mason Mount to the midfield and Andre Onana as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Redknapp also expressed optimism about the potential of Rasmus Hojlund, who he sees as a promising new striker for the team. He acknowledged that while Marcus Rashford had a fantastic season, United had long been in need of a reliable goalscoring center-forward, and Hojlund might be the answer.

Although Redknapp admitted he would have fancied United even more had they secured the signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham, he still considers United as “fantastic value” and a real threat to every team in the Premier League this season. His prediction adds to the excitement and anticipation as the new season approaches.

In his column for the The Sun, he wrote:

“While it wouldn’t be the greatest surprise to see Arsenal as champions, I’m actually tipping the Premier League to stay in Manchester. Just not with the team everyone thinks.”

“Erik ten Hag did a great job in his first season at United and he’s another who has had a decent summer in the market.”

“I’ve always liked Mason Mount and he is a great addition to the midfield while Andre Onana is one of the best keepers in the world.”

“Rasmus Hojlund might not have been their first choice for a new striker at the start of the summer but he looks a great prospect.”

“As good a season Marcus Rashford had last time, United have been after a goalscoring centre-forward for ages. This lad could be the answer.”

“I must admit, I’d fancy them even more if they’d have gone out and spent £100million on Harry Kane.”

“That would have been very hard for Daniel Levy to turn down.”

“I think United are fantastic value and in my book they will be a real threat to everyone this season.”

It certainly is a bold prediction from Harry Redknapp. While United have made great progress under Erik ten Hag and have made a couple of decent singings this transfer window, they are still quite behind Manchester City and perhaps even Arsenal in terms of quality.

Arsenal have had brilliant transfer window on the back of a stunning season and they are certainly going to serious title contenders as well. They have already had one over City as they beat them in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has named his official club captain for the season ahead.

Jamaal Lascelles shared the armband with Kieran Trippier last season but it seems it’s the former who remains the official captain of the side.

When asked if Howe had made a decision on the captaincy, he replied: “Yes, Jamaal will be captain.”

Earlier in the press conference, Howe was full of praise for the role Lascelles fulfils in his squad.

“I just want to say, with Jamaal in the room, he has been an unbelievable captain for us,” Howe said.

“And captaincy for me, doesn’t just exist on the pitch, it has to exist off the pitch (as well).

“The two things are so intrinsically linked. So a lot of our success last season didn’t just come down to the team, it was a group of players giving everything, on and off the pitch.

“There was a group of players off the pitch who were absolutely magnificent and Jamaal was one of them.

“Now Jamaal will want to play, like every player does, but it is how you react when you don’t play that is the key and I just want to pay tribute to what Jamaal did last year and we move forward together.”

Liverpool have left Fabinho out of their pre-season squad for their training camp in Germany as the midfielder’s move to Al Ittihad edges closer and a reliable journalist has named the four player that could replace the Brazilian star.

The 29-year-old has been a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s success since arriving back in 2018 and the Merseyside club are set to receive £40m to allow him to depart for the Middle East. According to The Athletic, the decision to remove Fabinho from the camp was taken collectively on Friday night in order to resolve his situation and it all but confirms his exit from the Premier League giants.

Jurgen Klopp and his staff had already been eyeing a long-term successor for the Brazil international and according to Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy, four names are on the Reds’ transfer list to take over Fabinho’s role in the team.

Fabinho looks set to leave Liverpool

According to Reddy, Sofyan Amrabat, Ryan Gravenberch, Kalvin Phillips and Romeo Lavia are all under consideration by Liverpool. The Sky Sports reporter specifically mentions that Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is not on their list as the Seagulls star looks likely to join Chelsea.

Lavia has been the name linked to Anfield the most over recent weeks but any of the aforementioned stars could walk through the door at Liverpool before the new campaign begins.

Former England international Darren Bent recently spoke to talkSPORT (via HITC) about Liverpool’s current situation, and what the future might hold for manager Jurgen Klopp.

Despite the club’s recent struggles, Bent doesn’t believe that Liverpool will fire Klopp, but he does think the German manager may decide to step down on his own if things don’t improve.

One year ago, Liverpool were in contention for a quadruple, but now they are out of the title race, the EFL Cup, and the FA Cup.

The team’s Champions League prospects are also in jeopardy, as they face Real Madrid in the coming weeks.

This sudden decline has led to questions about Klopp’s ability to manage the team, as he is facing what some call the “seventh season syndrome.”

Bent, who used to play for Tottenham, believes that the Liverpool owners won’t turn to former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, as his declining reputation and poor relationship with the Liverpool fans make him a non-starter.

However, he thinks that former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel might be a more viable option, as he has previously replaced Klopp at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea shortly after winning the Champions League at Stamford Bridge, and he may feel he has unfinished business in England.

Liverpool is currently ninth in the Premier League, ten points behind their bitter rivals Manchester United, who are in the Champions League spots.

Bent believes that Liverpool still has a chance to make the top four if they get their players back, and he isn’t completely writing them off.

Today is a big day for Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as he prepares to face his old club Arsenal at Stamford Bridge and deliver them a setback in their hunt for Premier League glory.

The striker is a man known for his celebrations and a big inspiration for them are superheroes.

Aubameyang has celebrated with a nod to Black Panther, Batman and Spider-man in the past and ahead of the clash at Stamford Bridge, the 33-year-old has revealed his favourite superheroes and doesn’t rule out more celebrations in the future.

Speaking on the subject to the BBC, Aubameyang says when asked who his favourites are: “Black Panther, number one. Batman, number two. And number three, I would say Spider-man because I did that celebration as well.”

The Chelsea star also mentioned Goku from Dragon Ball Z but that doesn’t t really count, and when asked if the world will see any more celebrations related to superheroes, the 33-year-old said:

“Why not? We will see. It depends on games and the motivation.”

“The one” – Former Chelsea star names the potential signing that gives him “goosebumps”

TigerGaming Poker 100% up To $1000 Welcome Bonus

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has made it clear he would love to see his former club seal the transfer of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

The Frenchman described Rice as “the one” for Chelsea to replace N’Golo Kante, who will be out of contract at the end of the season, whilst adding that he gets goosebumps at the thought of Rice playing alongside Blues ace Mason Mount.

The pair will have come up through Chelsea’s academy together, before Rice had to move to West Ham in order to further his career.

The 23-year-old is now surely up there with the finest midfielders in Europe on his day, and one can imagine CFC would dearly love to have him back after making the mistake of letting him go as a youngster.

    Declan Rice to Chelsea?

Leboeuf has not held back with his praise for Rice, urging his old side to bring the England international back to Stamford Bridge for a dream midfield partnership with Mount.

“I think Chelsea need to strengthen is central midfield as a potential replacement for Kante. Kante is out for about four months and while Jorginho is a great player he is not defensively minded. Kovacic is a good player and he does his job well but he needs a partner,” Leboeuf told fairbettingsites, as quoted by Football 365.

“Declan Rice is the one for me. It would be very, very interesting if Kante leaves. I would love to see them go and get Rice from West Ham.

“I get goosebumps thinking of Mason Mount and Declan Rice playing together at Chelsea because they are academy graduates and that’s what fans want to see. Man Utd are missing the point with their transfer policy of just buying big stars.

“They need to remember the Neville brothers, Beckham, Scholes, Giggs etc all came through the system and providing the backbone of the greatest period in the club’s history.

“The biggest figure in Chelsea’s recent history is John Terry, who OK started at West Ham but he’s Chelsea through and through and came through the academy like Mason Mount. Declan Rice belongs to Chelsea, like Conor Gallagher.”

Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has heaped praise on to Granit Xhaka after his superb form this season.

The Switzerland international has arguably been the most improved player in the Premier League with some eye-catching displays from midfield for Mikel Arteta’s side, having not so long ago looked like his future would surely lie away from the Emirates Stadium.

Xhaka notably got into a row with Arsenal fans when they jeered him on the pitch and he responded by gesturing back to them in a game against Crystal Palace a few years ago.

At that point, Xhaka was stripped of the captaincy and it didn’t look like there would be any way back for him at Arsenal, but he’s now showing some of his best form in a red and white shirt.

Granit Xhaka in action for Arsenal

Petit is hugely impressed with how Xhaka has turned things around for himself, and has praised the 30-year-old as looking like the symbol of the club under Arteta.

Petit exclusively told Ladbrokes: Fanzone: “He’s (Arteta) completely transformed so many players, as well. The first name that springs to mind for me is Granit Xhaka. He’s a survivor. The difference in him compared to where he was a couple of years ago; it’s night and day, it’s ice and fire. For me, he’s the definition of what it takes to be a sportsman.

“You have to be a fighter, you have to be a warrior, sometimes against opponents, but also against teammates and managers, the press, fans, sometimes you’re in a really negative environment and it can be a real test of your mentality.

“This guy had both knees on the floor, his head down and his time at the club looked to be over. The way he’s come back from that, and the way he’s almost reinvented his game, for me he’s the symbol of Arsenal Football Club under Mikel Arteta.”

  • “Waste of time” – Ex-Blue names surprise Chelsea player who could lose his place if he doesn’t improve in one area

“Waste of time” – Ex-Blue names surprise Chelsea player who could lose his place if he doesn’t improve in one area

Former Chelsea star Andy Townsend has suggested that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be deemed a “waste of time” and could lose his place in Graham Potter’s side if he doesn’t work hard enough without the ball.

The Gabon international made the move to Stamford Bridge this summer after a strong spell at Barcelona, but it wasn’t so long ago that he was struggling to show his best form for Arsenal.

It remains to be seen if Aubameyang can achieve his full potential in a Chelsea shirt, but so far he’s done pretty well, with three goals and one assist in his last four appearances for the club.

Still, speaking to talkSPORT in the video below, Townsend made it clear that Aubameyang would need to be more than just a finisher for Chelsea, and he’d be interested to see how he’ll react when he eventually gets left out of the team…

“Let’s be honest he was playing walking football by the end of his time there [at Arsenal],” Townsend told talkSPORT.

“Every time I watched him I used to think ‘you don’t run around’. He’s a great goalscorer with a fantastic record I understand all of that.

“But if you don’t charge around you’re a waste of time in modern day Premier League football.

“Now, what will define Aubameyang for him at Chelsea as an older player if he gets left out.

“I’d be very interested to see the reaction. And he will get left out. There might be a point where things aren’t going great.

“Graham Potter might want to shake things up and he might think he needs a little bit more energy up top.

“I think he’s important for them because he’s a goalscorer but I wonder how it’ll be if it goes in the other direction.”

Chelsea fans will hope Aubameyang can be a success as they urgently needed a top class replacement for Romelu Lukaku this season.
