    Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe would be in line for a huge signing-on bonus once he completes a transfer to Real Madrid as expected in 2024.

    The France international is a world class talent attracting plenty of interest at the moment as he’s in the final year of his PSG contract, with Real Madrid still widely expected to be his next destination, according to Jonathan Johnson in his exclusive CaughtOffside column.

    Mbappe has also been linked with Liverpool, but Johnson has poured cold water on that story, pointing out just how much of a massive fee the 24-year-old is in line to receive from Real once he finalises his move to the Bernabeu.

    “There have been surprise reports of Liverpool possibly doing a loan deal for Kylian Mbappe, while it’s also been suggested that other clubs could try similar,” Johnson said.

    “However, I do not think that any sort of loan deal for Mbappe is realistic this summer. Although it would solve the French superstar’s playing time issues, it would put PSG in an extremely precarious position regarding a potential fee before his contract expires.

    “The only way that I could see such a possibility even being entertained is if there was an obligation to buy him before next summer which makes little to no sense for Liverpool in this potential scenario.

    “In any case, the belief in Paris remains the same and that is that Mbappe and Real Madrid have an agreement for the summer of 2024 in a deal with a signing on fee as high as €160m.

    “Jurgen Klopp recently laughed off Mbappe to Liverpool speculation and I can see why – there are just too many moving parts. As fellow columnist Neil Jones has written here, much of the Mbappe to Liverpool talk down the years has been mainly fan-led, without any real substance to it beyond that.”

    While losing Mbappe will be a big blow for PSG, it seems that work is already under way to replace him, with Johnson claiming that both Goncalo Ramos and Ousmane Dembele are looking set to sign for the Ligue 1 giants.

    And consequently, following yet another abysmal display, according to a recent report from The Guardian, manager Erik Ten Hag is preparing to wield the Old Trafford axe and could offload as many as 15 senior players once the summer transfer window opens later this year.

    Which players could leave Man United this summer?

    The names in The Guardian’s report include Maguire, Lindelof, midfield duo Scott McTominay and Fred and attackers Jadon Sancho and injury-stricken Anthony Martial.

    Other out-of-favour players who could find themselves looking for a new club at the end of the season are believed to be former Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek, winger Anthony Elanga, backup goalkeeper Dean Henderson, young midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, and defensive quartet Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. The latter two are said to be ‘definitely leaving’, which comes as little surprise considering the pair have barely featured in the last few years.

    Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing the Chelsea duo of Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the summer.

    This is according to Dean Jones, who says the Magpies remain keen on the pair as they struggle for gametime at Stamford Bridge. Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek have made a combined 44 appearances in all competitions this season and are on £150,000 and £120,000-a-week respectively, so a sale of the duo will relieve a lot of pressure off the Chelsea wage bill in the next transfer window.

    Jones says Pulisic is an ‘intriguing’ player for Newcastle, who don’t seem to be too put off by his nasty injury record, while the club have been long-term admirers of Loftus-Cheek.

    Despite Newcastle’s new owners injecting plenty of funds into the club since arriving, the wages of the Chelsea players could prove to be a stumbling block, with four players already on £100,000+ per week at the club (per Capology), so they may be put off by a further hefty increase on their wage bill.

    The winter transfer window ends in just a few hours and Paris Saint-Germain is preparing very heavy. Luis Campos is indeed working on two big files currently, with Milan Skriniar of Inter, but also Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea. The first recently announced that he will not extend his contract, while the second definitely does not seem to have a place at his club.

    So far fairly calm, the PSG intends to go wild at the end of the winter transfer window. Not one, but two very big moves are currently in preparation, since Luis Campos would like to offer a defender and a right winger to Christophe Galtier.

    The first is of course Milan Skriniar, as we revealed to you on 24hfootnews.com. His departure has become inevitable since he announced that he did not want to extend to theInter and the PSG would like to complete a transfer this January.     Stefanos Tsitsipas won two of his first three ATP Head2Head matchups against Novak Djokovic, but the Serbian has owned their rivalry since then, winning seven straight matches. Djokovic will now put that streak — and two others — on the line when he meets the Greek in Saturday’s Rolex Paris Masters semi-finals.

    Djokovic is the underdog by seeding in Bercy, but not by form. The sixth seed carries dual 12-match win streaks into the semis, both overall and at the ATP Masters 1000 event, where he has won titles in his past two appearances in 2019 and 2021. He has not dropped a set this week, cruising past Maxime Cressy, Karen Khachanov and Lorenzo Musetti as he looks to win his third straight ATP Tour trophy after triumphs in Tel Aviv and Astana.

    “No one is unbeatable, but I’ve had plenty of success on this court and I think every single year that I come back, the confidence level is higher,” the six-time champion said after reaching his eighth semi-final at the event. “I just like the conditions, even though they are different from last year. I think I adjusted very well. Right from the start I was really playing my best tennis in the first match and I continued doing that. Hopefully I will not derail myself and will keep going in the same direction.”

    Djokovic was particulaly dominant off his forehand wing against Musetti, firing eight winners in a 6-0, 6-3 victory. He received a forehand Shot Quality grade of 9.2 out of 10 for the match. (Learn more about Shot Quality.)

    Tsitsipas also brings a perfect 6-0 set record into the semis following wins against Daniel Evans, Corentin Moutet and Tommy Paul. The fifth seed is seeking his third final in four events after reaching the title matches in Astana and Stockholm. He dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Djokovic in the Astana final and has not beaten the Serbian since 2019.

    Asked how he would snap his losing streak against the Serbian, Tsitsipas said that he would fight the urge to overplay against the man who spent a record 373 weeks as World No. 1 during his career.

    “I need to show the same consistency,” he said. “I have weapons that I can use. But in the past I feel I have used too much spin or power. It’s important that I stay at a medium level and not overdo it. It will be a physical match and I will need to move well.”

    The 24-year-old, who leads the ATP Tour with 60 wins this season, has an outside chance to finish 2022 atop the Pepperstone ATP Rankings. He has moved up two places to No. 3 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings this week, and now sits fewer than 1,500 points behind World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. He could move within 830 points of the Spaniard by winning his third tour-level title of the year in Paris, with an additional 1,500 points on offer in Turin for an undefeated champion.

    Saturday’s second semi-final is a rematch of last week’s Basel final between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Holger Rune. Like Djokovic, the Canadian also brings an impressive streak into the weekend: He has won 16 straight matches with titles in Florence, Antwerp and Basel. 

    Rune has also been in blistering form of late, with Auger-Aliassime the only man who can better his 17-2 indoor record over the past two months. The Stockholm champion’s only losses in that stretch came against Marc-Andrea Huesler in the Sofia final and against Auger-Aliassime in Basel.

    “I lost to him last week, but hopefully tomorrow is going to be different,” the #NextGenATP Dane said, looking ahead to the pair’s second meeting. “I know what happened last week and I can take a lot away from that and do a lot different tomorrow. I’m super pumped and super excited for what’s going to happen.”

    Auger-Aliassime is through to his second ATP Masters 1000 semi-final, three years after his initial breakthrough in Miami in 2019.

    “It’s crazy, because I remember like yesterday making my first semi-final in Miami,” said the Canadian. “It was so unexpected, and I thought at the time it was fine, making a semi-final in a Masters, [and that I] would do it many times in the future.

    “Then it took three years for me to get back there and it just proves how tough it is at this level to reach the semi-finals or better at these events. So I’m really happy that I was able to do it.”

    Set to make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals, which begins 13 November, Auger-Aliassime has a chance to better Rafael Nadal’s season-high win streak of 20 matches before the year is up.

    Top seed and defending champion Daniil Medvedev has set a blockbuster fourth-round US Open showdown with red-hot Australian Nick Kyrgios after defeating China’s Wu Yibing in the early hours of Saturday morning at Flushing Meadows.

    Beginning the match close to 11pm after Serena William’s pulsating three-hour final match against Ajla Tomljanovic inside Arthur Ashe Stadium, Medvedev dismissed Wu 6-4 6-2 6-2 to reach the second week for the fourth consecutive year.
    After Medvedev won a 35-shot rally – the longest of the tournament – to avoid dropping serve in the final game of the second set, the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals champion raced to the finish line, closing out the match in one hour, 55 minutes.

    Medvedev will put his World No. 1 Pepperstone ATP Ranking on the line against Kyrgios, who defeated the 26-year-old last month at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal, where he extended his ATP Head2Head lead over Medvedev to 3-1. The 2021 US Open champion currently finds himself behind Rafael Nadal in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings and will surrender his No. 1 crown after the tournament if he falls to Kyrgios.

    “We’ve played great matches. I think all have been quite tight on the scoreboard,” Medvedev said. “It’s 3-1 to him but I will try to do better this time and it will be a great match for people to watch.”

    Attempting to become the first player to win back-to-back US Opens since Roger Federer won five straight between 2004-08, Medvedev has advanced to the fourth round without dropping a set in the first week. He is also seeking his third appearance in the final at Flushing Meadows, having pushed Nadal to five sets in the 2019 title match.

    Medvedev has spent a total of 16 weeks at World No. 1 since February.

    Wu is the first Chinese man in the history of the tournament (since 1881) to reach the third round. He has moved to a career-high No. 129 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings as he continues his battle with countryman Zhang Zhizhen (120) to become the first Chinese man to crack the Top 100.

    Rafael Nadal takes a perfect 20-0 Grand Slam winning streak in 2022 into Day Four at the US Open, where he will take on Italian veteran Fabio Fognini, who stunned the Spaniard inside Arthur Ashe stadium seven years ago. Nadal continues his pursuit of the No. 1 Pepperstone ATP Rankings Thursday, as does his 19-year-old countryman Carlos Alcaraz.

    ATPTour.com looks at five things to watch on Day Four at Flushing Meadows.

    1) Rafa Aims To Avenge 2015 US Open Loss To Fognini:
    Rafael Nadal, who won his opening match in four sets against Australian Rinky Hijikata, has lost only twice in Grand Slams from two sets to love up. Fabio Fognini made history at the 2015 US Open, when he became the first to accomplish the rare comeback (Tsitsipas accomplished the same feat at ‘21 Australian Open). The 22-time major champion will be determined to avoid any similar history making feats by the Italian, who came from two sets down Tuesday in the opening round.

    Despite that loss seven-years ago, Nadal has won eight of his past nine meetings with Fognini, and leads the ATP Head2Head 13-4. The four-time US Open titlist is the current No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings and is chasing his third major crown of 2022 in just his second tournament back from suffering an abdominal injury at Wimbledon.

    “Things are not perfect when you are not competing very often,” Nadal said. “When you come back from injury. You need to be humble enough to go through this process and accept that you need to fight and you need to accept that you are going to suffer.”

    Victory will see Nadal become the firs singles player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals, to be played 13-20 November in Turin, Italy. Nadal is also looking to break a tie with John McEnroe on 65 match wins at the US Open to move into outright seventh place on the men’s match-wins leaders board at Flushing Meadows.

    Fognini completed his record-equalling 10th comeback from two sets to love down Tuesday, when he defeated Aslan Karatsev to advance to the second round. The 35-year-old celebrated his 400th tour-level win this past month in Hamburg and will now look for his first victory over a Top-10 player since he beat Nadal in Monte Carlo in 2019.

    2) Three Seeded Players Meet Home Favourites:
    When players go toe-to-toe against Americans in New York, they often have a second opponent: the home crowd. Grigor Dimitrov, seeded 17th, is among four seeded players facing Americans Thursday. He will tackle #NextGenATP Brandon Nakashima. The Bulgarian won their only meeting in Rome earlier this season.

    World No. 13 Jannik Sinner meets Christopher Eubanks, who advanced through qualifying and claimed his maiden Grand Slam main-draw win on Tuesday. Cincinnati champion Borna Coric, seeded 25th, will expect lengthy rallies as he goes against Jenson Brooksby, who reached the fourth round at Flushing Meadows last year. Frances Tiafoe rounds out the home hopes in action Thursday, when he takes on Australian Jason Kubler.

    3) Alcaraz Continues Quest For Maiden Slam & World No. 1:
    Carlos Alcaraz’s rise up the Pepperstone ATP Rankings this year has been a storyline to the 2022 season. This fortnight, he has a chance to climb to the top spot. Should the Spaniard make it as far as the final in New York, the 19-year-old will have a chance of becoming the youngest No. 1 in the history of the Pepperstone ATP Rankings on 12 September.

    Alcaraz goes head-to-head with Argentine Federico Coria Thursday, their second meeting. Coria needed three sets to win in Rio de Janeiro in 2020. Should Alcaraz advance, he would tie Stefanos Tsitsipas for a season record 46 wins.

    4)Top-10 Seeds Norrie, Hurkacz, Rublev In Action:
    Cameron Norrie, who boasts 42 wins this season, aims to build on his comfortable win against Benoit Paire when he meets Portugal’s Joao Sousa in the second round. Hubert Hurkacz, fresh off a straight-sets victory, hopes to continue his summer hard-court success when he goes against Ilya Ivashka.

    Andrey Rublev, who needed five sets to get through his opening round match against Laslo Djere, meets Soonwoo Kwon for the fourth-time this season (Rublev 3-0).

    5) #NextGenATP Star Musetti Sets Sights On Third Round:
    Lorenzo Musetti, 20, battled through a first-round match against David Goffin, triumphing in a fifth-set tie-break. Musetti encounters Dutchman Gijs Brouwer, who advanced through qualifying and earned his maiden Grand Slam victory Tuesday over Winston-Salem champion Adrian Mannarino.

    Musetti, who reached the fourth round at Roland Garros in 2021, attempts to surpass last year’s result at Flushing Meadows, where he was ousted in the second round by Reilly Opelka.
