Championship Winner Odds: Can Leicester be stopped?

Leicester City are doing exactly what was expected of them heading into the season and that is flying high in the Championship. The Foxes lead the way in the second tier after 11 matches with 30 points to their name, winning 10 and losing just once.

As we head into the second international break of the year, we take a look at how the odds are shaping up in the market for Championship title winners. Can the Foxes be stopped?

    Leicester City @ 8/11

Leicester fans are loving Enzo Maresca’s football in the Championship as they are starting to see their side run away with the Championship. Jamie Vardy is showing that there is still life in the old dog as he is continuing to find the back of the net, and the new-look midfield of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harry Winks is far too good for this level. It looks as though they will be bouncing back up to the Premier League at the first attempt.

As a squad they have been levels above most of the other teams in the division and as each game comes you’re expecting nothing but a Leicester victory. The Foxes are surely in for a memorable campaign and it is very difficult to see any other team stopping them from ending the year as the Championship title winners.

    Ipswich Town @ 3/1

Even though they were promoted from League One in the summer, many people were expecting Ipswich Town to cause a huge surprise in the second tier this year. They are doing just that as they sit second in the table and only two points behind Leicester, and eight points ahead of Preston North End in third.

The Tractor Boys have won nine games so far and have been involved in a fair few high-scoring games this term. They may not be the most defensively sound side in the league, but they have the attacking quality to make sure they always outscore their opponents.

It remains to be seen if they can push Leicester all the way for the crown, but they will certainly be seen as a tough team to knock off the second automatic promotion spot.

    Leeds United @ 6/1

Like Leicester, Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League last year but no one considered them as title contenders in the same way that Leicester were. They have enjoyed a strong start in the second tier under experienced manager Daniel Farke, who got Norwich City promoted twice.

Leeds have won five matches so far and they have turned in some good performances. They certainly have the quality to deliver a title charge, but it doesn’t seem like they have enough to better what Leicester have. They will most definitely be part of a highly-contested race for second place come May.

    Southampton @ 25/1

The other team that dropped down from the top flight in the summer was Southampton. With Russell Martin as manager, the Saints are playing an expansive possession-based style of football this season. They have been through a rough patch despite boasting a squad filled with quality.

Southampton have lost four games this season and while they have won five matches, they sit 10th in the table, 13 points off top spot. Over the coming months we are expecting them to become more consistent and win a lot more matches. With the squad they have, they simply have to, otherwise Martin’s position in charge will be at risk.

They don’t look like a team with strong title-winning credentials, but they certainly have what it takes to fight for an automatic promotion spot.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to bid for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.

That’s according to leading football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Reds are ‘expected’ to submit a formal offer for the Nigerian midfielder before Friday’s deadline.

Nottingham Forest fans will be delighted at their club’s decision to go after a player who, not so long ago, was considered one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders.

Ndidi, who has just 12 months left on his contract, looks certain to leave the King Power after six years.

During his time with the Foxes, the 26-year-old, who was part of Brendan Rodgers’ 2021 FA Cup winning squad, has directly contributed to 24 goals in 242 games in all competitions.

Roy Hodgson clearly isn’t happy with the way that his Crystal Palace strikers have begun the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The elder statesman amongst the Premier League manager has seen his side draw a blank against Arsenal and narrowly beat Sheffield United on the opening day.

With such a vibrant, attacking side at his disposal, one goal scored in two games isn’t enough to get Hodgson excited, and with nine days left of the transfer window it appears that the south Londoners are going to do their upmost to bring in a striker who has 56 goals in 210 appearances according to the Daily Mail.

In order for there to be room for Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho to join, however, the Selhurst Park outfit must first get rid of Jean-Philippe Mateta say the Daily Mail.

It’s believed that RB Leipzig could be interested in taking the player, though nothing has been confirmed at this stage.

Without the guile, power and pace of Wilfried Zaha, Palace seem to have lost a lot of their ‘zip’ in attack, and that could be a worry for Hodgson.

Therefore, any more for Iheanacho isn’t just strategic but necessary.

There’s plenty of time to secure the player’s future, though the sooner Mateta agrees to join Leipzig – if indeed he wants to – the better.

Club in talks with Leicester for 24-year-old ace, could make offer soon

Galatasaray are hoping to sign the Leicester City forward Patson Daka this month.

As per reports, the Turkish outfit have held talks with Leicester regarding a move for the 24-year-old and it remains to be seen whether they come forward with a concrete proposal now.

Leicester City paid €30 million for the forward back in the summer of 2021 and they will be hoping to recoup as much as possible for him.

Daka has been quite underwhelming since his move to Leicester City and he has scored just 3 goals across all competitions this season.

The Foxes need to bring in a more reliable goalscorer and it remains to be seen whether they can sign a quality striker at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, a fresh start could be ideal for Daka and the move to Galatasaray could be an interesting opportunity for him. He will get to play regularly with them.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement before the Turkish window closes. That said, weakening their squad this month might not be a wise decision from Leicester.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on signing the Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu.

The 26-year-old has done well for the Foxes since joining the club from Bundesliga and he could prove to be a useful addition to Diego Simeone’s back line.

Soyuncu is entering his peak years and this would be the right time for him to seek new pastures. A move to Atletico Madrid would be a major step up in the player’s career.

According to Football Insider, the Spanish outfit are hoping to sign the player on a free transfer. They are preparing a pre-contract agreement for Soyuncu and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can agree on a deal in the coming weeks.

Soyuncu will be out of contract in the summer and Leicester have not been able to agree on an extension with him yet.

Losing the player on a free transfer would be a major blow for the Foxes. They are in a similar situation with star midfielder Youri Tielemans as well.

As for Atletico Madrid, it would be a superb investment if they signed the Premier League defender on a free transfer.

Son Heung-Min scores three goals as Tottenham destroys hapless Leicester City.

Child Heung-Min fell off the seat and scored a speedy fire full go-around as Tottenham Hotspur revitalized to a prevailing 6-2 triumph over base spot Leicester City in the Head Association on Saturday.

The South Korean, the Head Association’s joint-top scorer last season, had not scored in Tottenham’s initial eight games and had lost his place to Dejan Kulusevski.

However, he answered in earnest style to take the spotlight, twisting a relentless right-footer into the top corner, then, at that point, a left-footer into the opposite side, and finishing his full go-around with an objective at first precluded for offside.

The child’s alleviation was tangible as he wandered off with the match ball as the delighted home fans sang his name.

“I have been disheartened. The group has been doing great, but I was frustrated with my presentation,” Child said. I realized objectives were coming and I wasn’t stressed. I’ve generally had incredible allies, partners, and mentors behind me. ”

In triumph, Triumph lifted Tottenham level on 17 points with champions Manchester City in spite of the fact that Stockpile can recover their best position assuming they beat Brentford away on Sunday.

Leicester stay base with one point from seven games and the tension structure on administrator Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester opened the scoring through a Youri Tielemans punishment, but Prods struck back soon after through a back-post header from Harry Kane.

Spikes protector Eric Dier sent the Prods ahead with a header from a corner, but Leicester’s James Maddison terminated it back with a brilliant completion from right inside the 18-yard box as he drifted the ball over goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

At half-time, he probably trusted that his Leicester side would proceed to get their most memorable Head Association win of the season, yet a mistake from midfielder Wilfred Ndidi permitted Spikes midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur to go through on objective and open home.

Be that as it may, it was Child who proceeded to capture everyone’s attention.

He supplanted Richarlison in the 59th minute, and after 14 minutes, he sliced on to his right foot and sent a shot shouting past Danny Ward to ignite wild celebrations.

However, he had not gotten done. This time he was selected by Kane and Child had just something single at the forefront of his thoughts as he ventured inside and twisted a shot past Ward from outside the area.

With Leicester self-destructing, he was then played in by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s through ball and beat Ward.

There was a restless hang tight for a VAR check and an enormous thump when the first offside choice was toppled.

Tottenham are presently unbeaten in 13 Chief Association games and will head into the worldwide break on a high.
