Erik ten Hag believes that his side is going in the right direction despite their home defeat to Manchester City.

Currently sitting eighth in the league table, the Red Devils have had a torrid start to the season and have now lost five games.

Although they were not expected to get a result against the treble winners, the manner in which they lost was telling.

After conceding in the first half, Manchester United failed to create any real opportunity after the break with their city rivals dominating the ball.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag claimed that his side performed ‘very well’.

“When you see the first half it is toe-to-toe and just the penalty changes the game, but even then we could have returned in the game with the shot of Scott McTominay just before half-time.” he said via the Guardian.

“For chances it was very toe-to-toe and also in the previous games against them in the FA Cup final and January it was very close. So the probability that we could win was there in all the games.

“The start was difficult but we are on the way up. I am sure when we have some injured players coming back then our side will be stronger. We have to be patient.”

Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha has reportedly told his club that he wants to leave as soon as the opportunity arises again in the January transfer window.

The Portugal international has impressed in the Premier League and it makes sense that he has attracted a lot of interest in recent times, with The Athletic recently reporting that Man Utd showed an interest in signing him before moving for Sofyan Amrabat instead, with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag a big fan of the player.

According to a report from Team Talk, it seems Palhinha remains eager to leave Craven Cottage, with Bayern Munich his preferred destination despite the previous links with United.

One imagines MUFC won’t make another signing in that area of the pitch after the deal for Amrabat, while Ten Hag also has the likes of Casemiro and Scott McTominay to choose from in that department.

A move to Bayern could make sense, however, as Palhinha could be a fine signing to replace Ryan Gravenberch, who moved to Liverpool late on in the summer.

This is a blow for Fulham, who will surely have been hoping to keep their star player after only narrowly avoiding losing him in the summer.

Erik Ten Hag to wield Man United axe as 15 players, including £73m star, in line for summer exits

Manchester United are set for a major summer clear-out.

Despite winning the EFL Cup earlier in the season, Europa League defeat against Sevilla on Thursday night served as a reminder of just how off the pace the Red Devils really are.

David De Gea put in a disastrous performance with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, who filled in for the injured Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, looking far from assured in defence. Erik Ten Hag’s attackers, which included Jadon Sancho, who signed from Borussia Dortmund two season’s ago for £73m (Sky Sports), endured another tough night. In fact, winger Antony was probably the only player to live up to expectations.

And consequently, following yet another abysmal display, according to a recent report from The Guardian, manager Erik Ten Hag is preparing to wield the Old Trafford axe and could offload as many as 15 senior players once the summer transfer window opens later this year.

Which players could leave Man United this summer?

The names in The Guardian’s report include Maguire, Lindelof, midfield duo Scott McTominay and Fred and attackers Jadon Sancho and injury-stricken Anthony Martial.

Other out-of-favour players who could find themselves looking for a new club at the end of the season are believed to be former Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek, winger Anthony Elanga, backup goalkeeper Dean Henderson, young midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, and defensive quartet Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. The latter two are said to be ‘definitely leaving’, which comes as little surprise considering the pair have barely featured in the last few years.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reportedly gave a strong punishment and a serious threat to his players after the crushing 7-0 defeat away to Liverpool at the weekend.

The Red Devils were absolutely humiliated in a way that they won’t be used to, with Liverpool running riot and ending up with an unacceptable score-line from a Man Utd point of view.

According to the Daily Mirror, Ten Hag dealt with his players with the seriousness this deserved, making them sit in silence and listen to the Liverpool celebrations, and threatening them with being dropped to the reserve team if anything like this happens again.

United have had a long list of games recently, and that might have taken it out of them a bit, but there can certainly be no excuse to concede so many goals in such a big game.

MUFC fans will surely be relieved to see that Ten Hag gave such a stern warning to his squad that will hopefully get the desired reaction from them.

Manchester United face Newcastle on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final as Erik ten Hag looks to win his first trophy in charge.

Manchester United have been in excellent form since Ten Hag took over and have a chance of winning all four competitions they’re currently competing in.

The Premier League will of course be the toughest, but they have a chance against Newcastle on Sunday to win their first trophy of the season.

However, they will have to deal without forward Anthony Martial, as Ten Hag has ruled him out of the final, as relayed by Laurie Whitwell below.

Martial has spent an awful lot of time on the treatment table this season, undoubtedly frustrating Manchester United fans. Wout Weghorst was signed on loan during the January transfer window, and it’s a good job he was considering Martial’s fitness issues.

Whether Martial would be a starter in the cup final is up for debate, but he’s certainly a good option to have off the bench which a lack of numbers up front for Manchester United. Marcus Rashford is capable of playing in this position, but he’s been so effective off the left this season.

Erik ten Hag has made a worrying admission over Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

Martial has endured a difficult season riddled with injuries and he once again finds himself unavailable for Manchester United’s upcoming game against Leeds.

Usually, injury-prone players suffer recurring injuries of the same issue, but Ten Hag has now admitted that’s not the case with Martial.

“No, every time in different areas. At the minute, it is his hip. He is not always available, but also I see the other side when he is available. He was never 100 per cent this season but he had a big impact every time he is available, even when he is at 80, 85, 90 per cent,” said Ten Hag on Martial, as relayed by Manchester Evening News.

If Martial had a recurring injury on a certain area, then they may be able to solve the issue with surgery. The fact Martial is constantly injuring different parts of his body is a worrying sign for Manchester United.

Martial hasn’t completed 90 minutes for the club in over two years and it could be time for Manchester United to consider moving him on as he simply can’t be relied upon.

Hopefully, the latest injury setback isn’t a bad one and Manchester United can have Martial back fit and firing in the next few weeks, but there’s no doubt the fans at Old Trafford won’t be getting their hopes.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has sent a clear message to Alejandro Garnacho after subbing him off against Crystal Palace yesterday.

The talented 18-year-old has had a positive impact when he’s played this season, showing himself to be an exciting prospect coming through at Old Trafford.

Still, yesterday was clearly a difficult moment for Garnacho as he was brought on as a substitute in the 59th minute but then hooked off again by Ten Hag as he made tactical changes to try to hold on to a narrow lead.

Man Utd eventually picked up a 2-1 win over Patrick Vieira’s side, but it was a little nervy at points, and Ten Hag stands by his decision to bring Garnacho off for defender Harry Maguire.

Garnacho did not look happy when he made his way to the touchline, but Ten Hag insists the Argentine has to accept his decision for the good of the team.

“First we had to see how they changed, then you have to anticipate and see how we can close, how to be compact, how we close the gaps, how we get away from our goal but also still have a threat in attack,” Ten Hag said to MUTV, as quoted by the Metro.

“I think we had to change something. It’s not always nice bringing off a player who we brought on but it’s in the interests of the team and the player has to accept that.”

Manchester United target available for just €12m in January as Erik ten Hag plots move for striker

TigerGaming Poker 100% up To $1000 Welcome Bonus

Manchester United transfer target Marcus Thuram will be available for around €12m during the January transfer window.

A report from BILD recently claimed that Thuram was open to a move to Manchester United instead of Aston Villa or Newcastle. Rudy Galetti also claimed that Thuram was on Manchester United’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

The French international is out of contract at the end of the season, so Borussia Monchengladbach may look to sell Thuram in January to avoid him leaving on a free transfer.

Now, a report from Ronan Murphy has claimed that Thuram will be available for between €10m-€12m in January.

Thuram is enjoying an impressive season for Monchengladbach and played a role in helping France reach the World Cup final in Qatar.

With Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club, Manchester United are in need of attacking reinforcements, so Thuram would be a welcome addition for a reasonably small fee.

At that price, Thuram is likely to have plenty of clubs taking a look at him, but the stature of Manchester United often means they have the power to attract the biggest players around the world.

Erik ten Hag confirms Manchester United’s intent to sign striker in January

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed the club will try to sign a new striker in January – but only if the right one is available.

The Red Devils may be active in the winter transfer window to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club last month through a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

Whilst it was likely the best decision for both parties, United are now left short in the forward department, which was already significantly depleted in comparison to other positions in the squad.

They have only Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as out-and-out forwards and the latter has struggled with fitness issues since August. He has started just two Premier League matches since the season began, however, he has contributed two goals and two assists in his short cameos.

United have been linked with Cody Gakpo. The 23-year-old netted three goals in three consecutive World Cup matches and has 13 goals and 17 assists in all competitions at club level for PSV.

Ten Hag’s statement on new signings

Ten Hag said today (via Manchester Evening News): “Yes [I feel United need to bring in a forward], but only when we find the right players. We do everything in our power. We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contact them.”
