The Blaugrana had already tried an approach last summer, offering 25 million euros to the yellow submarine to poach the defender. Villarreal refused. A loan with a higher purchase option was also offered, but no agreement was reached. Foyth’s injury at the end of August put an end to the negotiations.
Barça will have to look for a fallback solution, especially since the main interested party seems to want to stay in Villarreal.
Besides Foyth, the Catalans have Thomas Meunier, Joao Cancelo and Benjamin Pavard in their sights. Problem: the Frenchman has already announced that he did not like playing this position too much and that he wanted to continue the adventure at Bayern. The Cancelo option might be the best from a value for money point of view, but for that, the player would have to drop his option to buy Bayern and be loaned out again by City. Quite unlikely therefore.
The Vanderson track, which the Blaugrana liked a lot last summer, seems to have taken the lead in the wing.
