Arsenal are reportedly in talks with defender Ben White for a new contract, and discussions are progressing well, sparking optimism that a deal will be reached, per The Standard.

White, who joined Arsenal from Brighton in the summer of 2021 for £50 million, has impressed with his performances for the club.

Despite his current contract running until 2026, Arsenal has begun talks with 26-year-old Ben White to potentially extend his deal, recognising and rewarding his notable performances.

The club has been proactive in securing new contracts for key players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba in the past year.

Initially signed as a center-back from Brighton, Ben White has showcased his versatility when Mikel Arteta deployed him at right-back last season, a move prompted by William Saliba’s return from a three-year loan spell. White has excelled in this new role for Arsenal.

The 26-year-old has developed a strong partnership with Saka down Arsenal’s right-hand side, and they’ll want to keep that duo together for years to come.

White has been a big reason why Arsenal have conceded the least goals in the Premier League this campaign, incidentally helping them keep six clean sheets thus far – the most out of any other team in the division.

Arsenal urged to complete the signing of Aston Villa ace

Arsenal are in the market for a goalscoring striker ahead of the January transfer window and former Gunner Mikaël Silvestre has told Mikel Arteta to prioritise the signing of Ollie Watkins over Ivan Toney.

The Brentford striker is expected to leave the Bees in January upon his return from his current eight-month ban for breaking the FA’s gambling rules and Arsenal have been one of the clubs heavily linked to the England star.

The 27-year-old had an exceptional campaign for Brentford last season, finishing third in the Premier League scoring chart with 20 goals, but Silvestre believes his former club should move for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins instead.

“Right now you have Eddie Nketiah at the club alongside Gabriel Jesus, but signing a third striker could present them with a luxury that could be useful at this level,” the former defender told GGRecon.

“Especially when you consider the amount of games that Arsenal could potentially play this season. The team always needs healthy competition and it needs quality, so if Arsenal were to sign another striker in the near future, then it would be [Ollie] Watkins over [Ivan] Toney if the decision was up to me.”

Watkins is a self-proclaimed Arsenal fan after growing up supporting the Gunners and would likely jump at the chance to play for the North London club. However, the Englishman has just signed a new contract with Aston Villa until 2028, meaning the Birmingham club are under no pressure to sell and if they do, it will be for very big money.

  • International break has left Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with monumental task ahead of Chelsea test

International break has left Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with monumental task ahead of Chelsea test

Though Chelsea haven’t been at their best so far this season, Arsenal are still likely to face the toughest of tests this weekend in what is sure to be an epic London derby.

The Gunners need the points in order to remain joint top of the Premier League, or perhaps they’ll end the weekend as outright leaders.

From the Blues point of view, they could jump from 11th to seventh if results elsewhere go their way, so there’s everything to play for, for Mauricio Pochettino and his staff.

With the international break having taken precedence over the past fortnight, it’s presented Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, with a huge headache ahead of the Saturday evening contest.

The Spaniard and his backroom team are now going to have to assess the suitability of 14 players for the fixture according to football.london.

All of Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Thomas Partey, Gabriel, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Eddie Nketiah, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior, Karl Hein and Mohamed Elneny will all have to be given the once over before they can be signed off.

David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale will need to be looked at too, though neither custodian played a minute for Spain and England.

Clearly, Arteta will hope that all or most of his first-teamers will report back to training without a scratch and it will be a simple box ticking exercise before moving onto the next player.

There may be one or two niggles that need to be ironed out at the 11th hour too, so that Arteta can at least turn up at Stamford Bridge with all of his players in the best of health.

West Ham United are reportedly likely to be among the transfer suitors for Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe if he ends up making a move this January.

The 23-year-old has struggled for playing time at the Emirates Stadium for a while now, with fitness issues holding him back last season, while he now faces more competition for his place in the side.

According to Football Insider, there could be a lot of interest in Smith Rowe if his situation doesn’t improve by January, with West Ham mentioned as being among the clubs interested in him.

One imagines the Hammers would definitely take a talent like Smith Rowe in their squad, with the England international surely having the potential to shine at a mid-table Premier League club if given the chance.

Emile Smith Rowe to West Ham?

Some Arsenal fans will even feel Smith Rowe is good enough to be starting ahead of struggling stars like Kai Havertz or Fabio Vieira, but it’s just not happening for him at the moment.

This surely can’t go on for much longer or Smith Rowe risks wasting a very promising career, so a switch to the London Stadium could be an ideal next step.

Arsenal are reportedly considering making an approach to sign Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

That’s according to a recent report from Fichajes, who claim Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his squad as he endeavours to continue to close the gap on rivals and treble-winners Manchester City.

And one player on the Spaniard’s wishlist is thought to be Borussia Dortmund’s Bynoe-Gittens.

Considered a top talent, Fichajes have gone as far as to compare the London-born teenager as ‘the new [Jude] Bellingham’.

Although the 19-year-old’s development may or may not replicate that of Real Madrid’s Bellingham, given the fact both have come through Dortmund’s prestigious youth ranks shows huge promise.

And when it comes to Arsenal’s reported pursuit, even though the Black and Yellows are thought to be determined to keep hold of the highly-rated wide-attacker, the Gunners could offer as much as £26 million (€30 million) once the January transfer window opens in the hope they can tempt their German rivals into selling.

Since being promoted to Dortmund’s senior first team last year, Bynoe-Gittens, who has two years left on his contract, has directly contributed to four goals in 25 games in all competitions.

Despite recent reports, there is nothing going on between Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella and Arsenal as Thomas Partey is set to stay at the Gunners for another season.

It was reported this week that Arsenal are interested in Barella and are ready to offer both Folarin Balogun and Takehiro Tomiyasu as part of a deal for the Italian midfielder.

However, Fabrizio Romano says that he is not aware of anything between Arsenal and Barella as Partey is expected to stay at the Gunners unless a big bid comes in.

Thomas Partey is set to stay at Arsenal

Writing in his latest exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano states a €45m/€50m bid can change the situation regarding Partey at Arsenal and that Inter want to keep Barella for the upcoming season.

Romano wrote: “I’m not aware of anything regarding Arsenal moving for Nicolo Barella, honestly, there is nothing. Thomas Partey is now expected to stay with the Gunners and only a €45/50m bid can change the situation but no one has submitted an offer with that type of money attached. There has been interest from Saudi in Partey but never for that money. Inter want to keep Barella this season and I don’t see him leaving at this stage.”

  • “We have the resources” – Mikel Arteta convinced that Arsenal can consider themselves one of the big boys now

“We have the resources” – Mikel Arteta convinced that Arsenal can consider themselves one of the big boys now

After signing the likes of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, Mikel Arteta is convinced of Arsenal’s potential moving forward.

It wasn’t that long ago when the Gunners found themselves bottom of the Premier League table without a win and supporters of the club were demanding that the Spaniard was sacked.

Fortunately for all concerned, the Arsenal board allowed Arteta to ride out the storm and he’s repaid their faith handsomely.

The project is evolving all the time, and the signings made by the north Londoners this summer have all been in the top bracket. Certainly no blame can be attached to the board or manager any longer for the club not being ambitious enough.

“The important thing now is that when we have a target we have the resources that we need to bring that player in but as well that we can convince him and what we tell him excites him, that he feels inspired and wants to be part of it,” Arteta was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Pep Guardiola’s Man City side.

“That is the feeling we are getting with every player I want to sign but as well with the players we already have here.

“They are the ones we have to look after and that they maintain that feeling and willingness to be here and drive the club to be better every day.”

It was Arteta’s former boss of course whose side hunted the Gunners down last season and pipped them at the post.

That has to be Arsenal’s motivation ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season, and the standard of their summer buys really does hand them the opportunity to do just that.

Where they’ve wobbled in the past, now they have strong-minded players to help install belief and dovetail nicely with the superb squad that Arteta has been building.

If City are to win the title again, they’ll be made to work right up until the final whistle of the last game of the season, because Mikel Arteta clearly has the bit between his teeth and will stop at nothing to finally deliver some long overdue success.

How poetic would it be if Arsenal could win the English top-flight title for the first time since The Invincible’s 20 years ago next year.

Arsenal could reportedly still strengthen in this summer’s transfer window even after so much heavy spending already.

The Gunners are set to smash their transfer record for Declan Rice, but Dharmesh Sheth, speaking in the video below, also acknowledges that further signings could be made if the club are also able to make certain player sales.

See the video clip below for details, with Sheth explaining that Arsenal are looking for buyers for the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Folarin Balogun and Albert Sambi Lokonga, while Thomas Partey’s future could also be key, and that if these players leave, the north London giants could look to strengthen both on the right-hand side of attack, and again in central midfield…

Arsenal finished 2nd in the Premier League last season and now look to be showing great ambition as they hope to put in an even stronger title challenge against reigning champions Manchester City next term.

Sheth mentions the likes of Raphinha and Moussa Diaby as past targets that didn’t work out for Arsenal, suggesting that profile of player could be what they look for again if they have the funds to do so.
